Parking Permit Rules & Regulations

Permits: A permit is an authorization issued by the Parking Department for parking a vehicle on campus for a specified length of time. A permit may be issued by the following means:

  1. Faculty/Staff Permit: The permit issued to an individual who qualifies as faculty/staff (see Rules & Regulations).
  2. Student Permit: The permit issued in a 12-month time period, or as a Shuttle Permit, to all students not qualified to receive a Faculty/Staff Permit (see Rules & Regulations).
  3. Temporary Permit: The permit issued for a temporary specified period of time and availability.
  4. Day Meter Permit: The permit issued to an individual or department for use at any University of Illinois meter only, excluding University of Illinois short-term (30-minute) red meters. The permit must have only one month, one day, and one year scratched off to be valid.
  5. Departmental Meter Permit: The permit issued to and paid for with departmental funds allowing a visitor, guest, or departmental employee on a discretionary basis, to use university meters without payment to the meter. Departmental Meter Permits may not be purchased for the exclusive use by individual faculty or staff.
  6. Motorcycle Permit: The permit issued to any vehicle licensed as a motor-driven cycle.
  7. Disabled Permit: The permit issued to those persons who require long- or short-term disability parking and who have a valid state placard.
  8. Shuttle Permit: The permit issued for Lot B22 or E14 Shuttle area only. These permits are non-refundable.
  9. 2nd Shift Permit: The permit issued to those working a “2nd Shift” (i.e., 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, etc). This permit cannot be payroll deducted, is not refundable and documentation may be required.
  10. 3rd Shift Permit: The permit issued to those working a “3rd Shift” (i.e., 11:00 pm - 7:00 am, etc). This permit cannot be payroll deducted, is not refundable and documentation may be required.
  11. Dual Permit: A Dual Permit is one that displays two different lots. The Dual Permit is available to faculty/staff by completing a Request for Special Parking Privileges form and obtaining the approval of both the Campus Services Director and the Parking Director.

    The following criteria apply:

        - Faculty/staff member must hold two offices for equal amount of time (50% at each office).

        - Offices must be 6 blocks or more apart from each other
